Who we are
Gritline is operated by Robin Spano, an individual based at Passeig del Mare Nostrum 15, 08039 Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. “We” / “us” in this document refers to the same.
What Gritline is
Gritline is an editorial guide to gravel cycling in Catalonia. We publish curated route writeups, an events calendar, and a community layer for riders who attend the same events.
What it isn’t: a navigation app, an event registration platform, an organiser, a guide service, an insurance product, or a substitute for medical, legal, or safety advice from qualified professionals.
Riding at your own risk
This is the most important section. Gravel cycling carries real risk - traffic, weather, terrain, mechanical failure, getting lost. By using any route, GPX file, or event listing on Gritline, you accept full responsibility for your own safety and decisions.
The routes we publish have been ridden by us before they go up and verified at the date shown on each route page (“Last ridden”). Conditions change constantly: trails close, gates appear, surfaces wash out, traffic patterns shift, weather turns. We can’t guarantee any route is safe or passable on the day you ride it.
You agree that you are solely responsible for:
- Assessing whether a route is appropriate for your fitness, skill, equipment, and the weather on the day.
- Carrying enough water, food, tools, and a means of communication.
- Complying with local traffic laws, land-access rules, and private-property boundaries.
- Wearing a helmet, having working brakes and lights, and keeping your bike in safe condition.
- Telling someone where you’re going on long or remote rides.
- Knowing how to navigate and read a map - GPX files can have errors, batteries die, signal drops.
Gritline accepts no liability for any injury, loss, damage, or inconvenience that results from following a route, attending an event, or otherwise acting on information published on the site, to the maximum extent allowed by Spanish law.
Events listed on the site
Event listings are factual aggregations of publicly-available information. Listing an event on Gritline does not mean we’re affiliated with the organiser, that we vouch for how the event is run, or that the event will take place as described.
Always confirm dates, distances, registration status, and registration terms on the organiser’s official page before signing up or showing up. We do our best to keep listings accurate, but the organiser is the only authoritative source.
Marking yourself as “participating” on Gritline is not registration for the event itself. You still need to register with the organiser separately.
Member accounts
Member accounts are free. You sign in via Google or Strava OAuth - see the Privacy Policy for what we collect.
You agree to:
- Use your real name (or a recognisable handle) - no impersonation of other people, organisations, or organisers.
- Not use the site to spam, harass other members, or post anything illegal.
- Not attempt to scrape, reverse-engineer, or otherwise abuse the site.
We can suspend or delete an account that breaks these rules, with or without notice depending on severity. You can delete your own account at any time - email us via the contact form.
Your content
When you upload a profile picture, write a bio, or mark attendance, you keep ownership of that content. By posting it, you grant Gritline a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display it on the site so the community features work as intended (your profile, attendance lists, the members directory). The licence ends when you delete the content or your account.
You confirm you have the right to upload anything you upload - that the photo is yours, that you’re not impersonating anyone, etc. We can remove content that breaks these terms.
Our content
Route writeups, photographs, videos, and editorial copy on Gritline are owned by Gritline (or by photographers and creators we’ve licensed from, with attribution). You’re welcome to share links to our pages and to download GPX files for your own riding. You’re not welcome to republish our writeups, photos, or videos without permission.
Quote a paragraph in a write-up? Use a route name in a club chat? Share a screenshot? Of course. Lift a whole route page onto another site? Please don’t.
Service availability
Gritline is provided on an as-is basis. We don’t guarantee uptime, freedom from bugs, or that any specific feature will keep working forever. We may add, remove, or change features at any time. We try not to break things gratuitously, but we’re a small operation.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Spanish law, Gritline (and Robin Spano personally) accepts no liability for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of the site - including lost time, missed events, ride-related injury, equipment damage, or anything else.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or anything else that can’t legally be limited under Spanish law.
Changes
We’ll update this page as the site evolves and bump the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes will also be flagged on the homepage so you don’t have to come hunting for them.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Spain. Any dispute that can’t be resolved by talking it through goes to the competent courts of Barcelona, Catalonia.
